Regulations made by the Governor in Council under section 2 of the Emergency Regulations Ordinance, 1922, Ordinance No. 5 of 1922, on the 13th day of June,
1929.
Water Shortage Regulations.
Published in the Government Gazette of the 14th June, 1929, Government Notification No. 304.
1. It shall be lawful for the Director of Public Works, or any person authorised by him, to take posses- sion of, use and control, and to adapt if necessary, any water boat or lighter, or any other vessel which he may think suitable for the purpose of conveying or storing water, and any launch or other steamship which he may require for towing any such water boat, lighter or other vessel.
2. If the Director of Public Works takes possession of any water boat, lighter or other vessel, or any launch or other steamship, under the powers conferred on him by Regulation 1 of these regulations, the owner of such water boat, lighter or other vessel, or of such launch or other steamship, shall be entitled to be paid a reasonable amount by way of hire in respect of each day during which the water boat, lighter or other vessel, or launch or other steamship, remains in the possession of the Director of Public Works, and shall be entitled to be paid a reasonable amount by way of compensation in respect of any reconditioning necessary, any such amount to be determined in case of disagreement by the tribunal referred to in Regulation 5 of these regula- tions.
